This painting was inspired
by the need for the European races, who think of themselves as “modern
man”, to come to the realization that in terms of their calendar they are
in fact living in a cave. They blindly follow the Gregorian calendar, revised
in the medieval times from the Julian calendar which originated in Rome,
and was used by the conquering Romans in their newly acquired lands to
subjugate and alienate the Tribal Peoples following Moon based calendars.
I have used the female image to symbolize humanities natural link to the cycles of the Moon, as Woman herself through her natural cycle understands. If we are to realign ourselves to natural time and eliminate some dysfunctionality from ourselves as a species we must let in the light by creating a window in our cave wall in which to view the Heavens. Deep within our cells resides one of the most ancient memories of our species, regardless of race or creed - an eternity of nights viewing the splendor and majesty of the Heavens. Arising from this we soon began to realize that there were Thirteen Moons of 28 days each within one cycle of the Earth around the Sun. It is so simple and harmonious. |
